Merivale group of business is a property development company. In its portfolio it has retail and well known hotels, pubs, clubs and bars in Sydney some of which include ivy, Establishment and Slip Inn. Merivale is the owner and promoters of Good Vibrations Festival. On a yearly basis Merivale employs approximately 2,000 people across its operations.

Searching for a Solution

In late 2007, Merivale opened a new venue, ivy, which is a large entertainment precinct with approximately 19 bars, 9 restaurants and 11 retail outlets. At that time, this new addition into the portfolio required expansion of the payroll team to cope with the manual data entry and calculation of timesheets weekly.

Kerrie Boylett, General Manager Admin said, “Our manual systems were extremely time consuming and inefficient, therefore it was imperative to find the best software solution to help automate a weekly payroll. The initial system we had chosen made critical timesheet calculation errors, and involved switching between several screens to manage an employee’s timesheet. This frustrated our staff due to the double handling required to ensure no errors. Merivale were forced to explore other options in the market and it was crucial to the business to ensure that the right product was sourced. The company chosen had to deliver on what they promised. Although some of our team had some lingering negative feelings, due to the previous system’s failure, RosterLive delivered immediately on what they promised. Solution Outcome and Benefits

Through the successful implementation of RosterLive, Merivale was able to expedite its payroll processing and improve many other procedures related to managing its multiple venues.

“RosterLive has strong award interpretation. Payroll is much quicker now. Originally, it was taking two full-time employees, now one person is easily able to cope. It is impossible to avoid some errors creeping in doing things manually, RosterLive has now eliminated data entry and processing errors with payroll, automating this has resulted in significant payroll savings for us.
Staff are more diligent as shift exceptions are immediately highlighted in RosterLive. Managers check timesheets more thoroughly before approving them.
